Example project · UC 06
Encode it. Stream it or keep it.
An example project for industrial inspection video: camera in, DDR buffering, H.265 encoding, then streaming over Ethernet or recording to an NVMe SSD.
Conceptual illustration
The problem
Raw inspection video is too big to move or store.
Inspection systems need compact, high-quality video they can stream to operators or keep for later review. A hardware H.265 pipeline cuts bandwidth and storage while keeping latency predictable.
The prompt
Build an FPGA video pipeline for industrial inspection. Receive camera video, buffer frames in DDR memory, encode using H.265 and stream over Ethernet or record to an NVMe SSD. Support configurable resolution and bitrate, and report frame rate, dropped frames and pipeline latency.
An example request. Compatibility and availability are confirmed for each selected configuration.
A simple conceptual architecture.

Validation steps
How it would be proven on hardware.
Board validation is its own milestone, separate from bitfile generation. Any results are measured on your setup, and none are shown here.
- Connect the camera, network and SSD, then program the bitfile.
- Set resolution and bitrate, and choose stream or record.
- Confirm the encoded stream plays back correctly.
- Read frame rate, dropped-frame and pipeline-latency statistics.
- Compare results with the agreed acceptance criteria.
